The title of Punslinger is not one easily obtained - there have only been seven worthy of such a name in all of history. Jake is the Last Punslinger, a master of the nearly-forgotten art of punslinging.
Originally from Consolia, the Punslinger used to be a ranch hand. But one day the ranch was visited by the Bantermancers, a group of fearless cowboys who patrolled the wastes, warding off fiendish villains and beasts. They were so impressed by Jake's command of banter that they offered to take him with them. Jake immediately accepted and became one of the crew. But Jake's banter far exceeded that of any other living being and the Bantermancers knew that he was destined for great things.
But the Bantermancers' days were numbered. All of a sudden, the king was overthrown and replaced by a tyrannical count who despised banter. The Bantermancers had become outlaws, and one by one they were arrested, tried and executed. Soon only Jake remained, and even he was cornered in a small village by the coast.
As the guards searched the village, Jake prayed to the gods of banter and a bright light appeared in the sky. He heard a voice, commanding him to search for the greatest pun, and it bestowed upon him the title of Punslinger. Jake felt a great power within him and burst from his hideout, with the wind crying banter. The guards cowered as the banter washed over them, and Jake commandeered a boat and sailed for Pelinor, home of the largest herb garden in all of the Nine Realms.
As he searched for the greatest pun of all Thyme, the League of Bearded Gentlemen became aware of his acts and sought him out, desperate to receive his aid in the Wars of Temm Spekk. Jake graciously accepted, so long as they would help him in his quest.
Jake uses his most banterous lasso to ensnare an enemy unit and draw it closer to him. The enemy cannot move or attack while they are lassoed, and will take damage when they are hit by the lasso and when they are released.
